What is Seychelles best known for?
Seychelles - these located in Indian Ocean islands rightly deserved their worldwide fame thanks to unreally beautiful tropical nature with unforgettable brightness and richness of its colours. Most of the islands are uninhabited but others became incredibly popular and loved by tourists that isn’t surprising as the views which are opening from beaches and hills are literally breathtaking.
What are the best things to do in Seychelles?
Besides spending time on fabulously lovely beaches Seychelles can offer their visitors to try surfing, see huge turtles, learn diving, rent a yacht, go kayaking and many other activities. On the La Digue island especially popular are transparent kayaks. For fair should be mentioned, the possibility of observing ocean floor makes the ride doubly pleasant. Many yacht excursions with different kinds of possible attractions are offered for tourists from each of the islands. Starting from morning, they can last until late evening that will help not to get a feeling of too long stay and being bored in a hotel. If you stay on Praslin or Mahé, we highly recommend you to rent a car and enjoy the beauty of native views from local roads. Some of them may be serpentine and difficult due to mountainous terrain, but every ride on them is an amusement, especially for those who gonna be passengers.
How long does it take to get around Seychelles?
Sizes of islands are completely different. It will take about one hour to go by car around Praslin while La Digue is popular with cycling as it’s not even possible to rent a car there. It will take several hours to explore all island by bicycle. Mahé is the biggest Seychelles island and you’ll need about couple of hours to go by car around it.
What to know before visiting Seychelles?
First of all, it’s important to understand that Seychelles isn’t a country for budget travellers. Prices for accommodations gonna be higher then average even if it’s most simple hotel rooms, also food will not be cheap and dishes in local restaurants can be pretty expensive. Almost all of the food that can be found in Seychelles shops is imported, from local mainly you can see bananas, eggs and canned tuna. It is better to go shopping to groceries chains that are bigger and have much wider choice than small street shops where personally for us there was almost nothing to buy but drinks. Also don’t forget that Seychelles as a country in tropics is mostly hot and humid in any time of the year, so be ready to catch several rainy days during your holiday.
How to travel between islands in Seychelles?
From Mahé and Praslin it’s possible to travel by plane or ferry. Plane trip will cost about 100€ and it’s around twice more than ferry ticket pice but we recommend to try it as views gonna be amazing. From Praslin to La Digue it’s possible to go by ferry also as from La Digue to Mahé or vice versa. To other islands usually private transfers by helicopter, boat or plane are arranged.
Which is the best island to stay on in Seychelles?
It completely depends on how you want to spend your holiday. La Digue is very adapted for tourists as it has plenty souvenir shops, not too long distances and the ability to travel everywhere by bicycle that allows to change completely the atmosphere and become distanced from big cities to which we got used to. Also it has several most beautiful on Seychelles beaches: Anse Source d`Argent, Grande Anse, Anse Cocos, Anse Marron, Petite Anse. Praslin seems to have a little less shops for tourists, but we liked it a lot for possibility to feel life without traffic jams, malls, queues and enjoy local roads with great views and Anse Volbert ( Cote D`Or) beach which became our favourite as it had unforgettably beautiful nature, wasn’t crowded and was suitable for safe swimming. Mahé mainly had much more tourists on the beaches and for us it transmitted special atmosphere of a tropical island much less as the capital of Seychelles Victoria more looks like one of ordinary small cities to which all we got used. Anyway, no matter which of islands you will choose, for sure Seychelles will give you lots of pleasant memories and take a special place in your heart.
